kristimon tour: Oregon!

On Wednesday I arrived in lovely Portland Oregon to visit a few pals and my boyfriend's family. I wandered around the neighborhood then relaxed and caught on work(worry free vacation!) until Cecilia got off work. We headed to the Hawthorn area for Pub Quiz- trivia night was was really fun, enlightening, and entertaining. There's several teams of up to 6 people who answer the questions as a team. From pop culture to more scarce references, 4 of us used our noggins to get 6th place. We had a skeleton where we had to name all the bones, "name this tune", what youtube video phenom, and god oldfashion what point guard won the XYZ award, and what author shot his wife during a drunked william tell reenactment?

We also watch eternal sunshine of the spotless mind- which I found sad but intriguing. Is it a commentary on destiny? That we must have certain experiences in order to progress in life... otherwise they will re occur- or occur no matter what- because of our instinctive tendancies?

Thursday I headed downtown- in a attempt to get a cute outfit for the coming weekend(that I forgot I was supposed to pack) as well as just exploring the pearl district, Powell's bookstore and seeing the neighborhoods. I got talking to this one lady who commented that man people here(in portland) were rude... amoung many other interesting remarks. I missed my stop by about five, met a sweet old gramma, then headed backwards where I perused Powell's then met up with Cecilia for dinner at a WONDERFUL cuban place. We got a sampler incluing a black eyed pea fritter, fish and potato croquette, and a chicken corn empanada, AND a shredded beef empanada. SO good. For dessert we got a lime cake! So good! Oh we just melted over the food it was SO good.

We walked some more and hung out at the store (being product designers... kinda a habit) We critiqued packaging, talked products, trends, and were inspired to make macaroons. So we made macaroons, realized we HAD to have them with chocolate lactose free ice cream, ran out and had a great dessert while watching zoolander.

Friday was so relaxing and wonderful! Oakes amusment park, people watching, hawthorne shops, and more macaroons. I saw a little girl at the amusement park with a string of pearls and a photo of herself on her shirt. Aww precious!

Timon flew in that night, we had a wonderful dinner on the patio at his sister's in Tualtine, then crashed. Saturday was began with blueberry picking for a homemade breakfast, a walk in campoeg park, then timon's birthday celebration , bowling, dancing, and arcade games.

phew!

8 more days to the kristimon tour! Hope to see you there!

new stuff

This fun inflatable building was actually a movie theatre showcasing the new Christmas carol movie.

cool vintage artifacts from the charles dicken's museum in london, also from the disney train. Which reportedly had a pretty big draw in LA.

My cousin and I saw this fun building while searching for a lil resturant in downtown. It was a cheap but well decorated pakistani resturant behind where forever 21 is. The waiter was soo nice but we couldn't really understand him. Great food!
